Biography

Dr. Chien is an applied statistician with the KUCD statistical team, where he has contributed since 2023. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, specializing in research, measurement, and statistics, from Texas A&M University. His work centers on data management, analysis, and visualization to support research and decision-making. His responsibilities include cleaning and managing complex datasets, developing data dashboards for project oversight, conducting power analyses for grant proposals, creating tables and visualizations for research dissemination, and building predictive models to inform project outcomes. Driven by a passion for uncovering hidden patterns in human learning behaviors, his research interests lie at the intersection of exploratory statistical modeling, data mining, machine learning, and the application of large language models. He is particularly intrigued by the dynamic trajectories of motivation and behavior, striving to develop models that accurately capture and describe these evolving processes. His research spans both large-scale, nationally representative datasets and smaller longitudinal studies, with a focus on gaining insights into learning behavior over time.
