KU LEAP: Preparing Leaders to Create Ambitious Educational Programs for Students with Severe Disabilities: Beyond De Minimis



Project Description

 

The KU LEAP program will focus on promoting competencies in three areas of critical need in research and teacher education in the field of special education and severe disabilities: 

  1. Promoting appropriately ambitious goals and curriculum
  2. Enabling college and career readiness in students with severe disabilities across K-12 grades
  3. Cuilding strengths-based systems of supports that promote inclusion and valued adult outcomes

KU LEAP will support four scholars for five years to develop discipline-specific content knowledge, research skills, knowledge of teacher preparation approaches, and an understanding of the culture of academia to gain successful employment within higher education institutions.
