Janie Claywell, Ph.D.

Dr. Janie Vicchio Claywell's research is driven by her dedication to supporting individuals with disabilities as they prepare for their successful transition to postschool life. Her interests include bridging the research-to-practice gap, as well as ensuring that evidence-based practices and strategies are implemented by practitioners with fidelity. Her current role as Associate Researcher on CIRCLES involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop and organize materials and tools to enhance transition planning for students with disabilities. This includes both the creation of practical resources for practitioners and families as well as supporting implementers to ensure effective implementation. Her scope of research emphasizes the promotion of predictors of postschool success, including both self-determination and career development. In addition, she provides technical assistance through NTACT:C to state (SEA) and local education agencies (LEA) focused on interagency collaboration and supporting SEAs and LEAs in building collaborative partnerships across agencies and providing practitioners with the tools and knowledge they need to empower students with disabilities to achieve postschool success.
