Communications and Dissemination

The KUCD Communications and Dissemination team creates and disseminates accessible and engaging materials to ensure that everyone can benefit from the knowledge generated by research. We work closely with project teams to support multimedia product development, graphic design, web maintenance, social media, and Plain Language translation services. Our goal is to increase the participation of people with disabilities and their families in research projects, training and community engagement activities, and information sharing efforts.
KUCD is committed to using many ways of sharing information that use principles of universal design, accessibility, and inclusion to ensure that all people have access to information. All materials use person-first and identity-first language, based on preferences, and represent positive images of people with disabilities and their families as active members of their communities.
Services
We provide the following services on a fee-for-service basis:
- Plain Language Review and Translation
- The KUCD Plain Language Team is a team of people with and without disabilities. We work together to translate complex materials into accessible formats, ensuring that everyone can participate in the research process and benefit from the knowledge generated by research. Using formats such as full text plain language translation, easy read documents, and structured summaries, our team collaborates with researchers to develop accessible materials for multiple contexts. Unlike AI generated "plain language" summaries, our team develops products informed by our lived experience of disability and multimedia communications expertise.
