Sarina Russo

Sarina M. Russo, M.A. is a Research Fellow and Doctoral Student. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Washburn University in 2025 and her bachelor’s degree in General Studies with an emphasis in Psychology and a minor in Education from the University of Kansas in 2022. Her research focuses on self-determination, family engagement and partnerships, and inclusive research for individuals with disabilities. Her research is grounded in a commitment to family-centered and inclusive approaches that recognize the experiences, strengths, and expertise of individuals with disabilities and their family members.

At KUCD, Sarina primarily supports the ConnectUP project, which focuses on increasing student engagement and self-determination in high school students with disabilities through the combination of two evidenced-based practices. She assists with tracking data, developing materials, assisting with implementation, and meeting and communicating with mentors and coordinators. Sarina also participates in the Inclusive Research Network and the Plain Language Team.
